What is Pilates?
What is Pilates? (puh-la-teez)
In the
1930’s, Joseph Pilates developed a series of exercises on the Mat and
on various equipment which he invented to strengthen the center,
lengthen the spine, increase body awareness, build muscle tone and gain
flexibility. The Pilates technique develops strong abdominal &
postural muscles to support the skeletal system and act as the
"powerhouse" of the body.
Ellie Herman has further developed the
system reflecting her eclectic background in yoga, gymnastics, dance
and Chinese medicine. Pilates develops a strong center which helps
alleviate back pain, prevents injury, & improves performance in all
aspects of life.
Pilates Equipment
Invented by Joseph
Pilates, these hand-crafted pieces of equipment are constructed with
variable spring resistance which builds long and lean musculature and
allows synergistic muscle engagement. The equipment tones and
strengthens the whole body while focusing on proper alignment,
increasing range of motion & flexibility.

concerns you may have.
Semi-Private
Choose Semi-Privates to work out with 2-4 people for a more inexpensive and social alternative to private sessions.
