ABOUT PREGGO PILATES

Preggo Pilates was founded by Stephanie Forster. She is the director of Pre and Postnatal Education at EHS Pilates in San Francisco. Over 15 years experience as a Pilates practitioner, dancer, bodyworker, choreographer and yoga student inform her teaching. Stephanie has focused her passion for Pilates by serving pre- and post-natal clients. She has a MFA in Choreography and Performance from Mills College and currently teaches dance at Rhythm and Motion Dance Center. When not in a Pilates or dance studio, she is busily chasing after her two young children.

PRENATAL SEGMENT

  1. Proper intake and assessment of pre- and post-natal clients.
  2. Review of the most up-to-date (ACOG) American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology guidelines for exercise during pregnancy including precautions, indications and contraindications.
  3. In-depth overview of physiological and postural changes during pregnancy.
  4. Review and demonstration of Pilates and Pilates based exercises that are safe, effective and helpful during pregnancy. Exercises demonstrated and reviewed will include Mat, Ball, Reformer, Cadillac, Barrel, Springboard as well as props such as Foam Rollers, Magic Circles and Therabands.
  5. Basic physiology of childbirth. Birth films will be shown.
  6. Guest lectures on pre- and post-natal nutrition, perinatal psychology and post-partum depression.
  7. How to market and connect with the pre-natal/post-partum and birthing community in your area.

POSTNATAL SEGMENT

  1. Overview of physiological changes in the postpartum client. Discussion of common postural problems in postnatal women due to breast/bottle feeding, baby and car seat carrying and exhaustion. Overview of postpartum pelvic floor issues. Special considerations for C-Section clients. Discussion of symptoms and warning signs of post-partum depression as well as resources for those clients.
  2. Review and demonstration of Pilates and Pilates based exercises that are safe, effective and restorative for the postpartum period. Exercises demonstrated and reviewed will include Mat, Ball, Reformer, Cadillac, Barrel, Springboard and props such as Foam Rollers, Magic Circle and Therabands.
  3. How to develop a supplementary home exercise program tailored to your clients’ specific needs such as rectus diastases, incontinence, c-section, etc.

CANCELLATION POLICY: All fees paid minus a $25 administration fee will be refunded for any cancellations made 21 days prior to first date of this course. Cancellations made 14 days or less prior to the first day of the course will not receive a refund of any kind, but can transfer once to the next available course. Otherwise, the full fees will be forfeited. No refund will be issued after the commencement of the course for any reason. No exceptions. EACH WORKSHOP REQUIRES a minimum number of 8 participants. If the minimum is not met, the class will be canceled within 7 days notice. If the workshop is canceled, all students will be refunded in full.
