The EHS Institute - Massage Training Program

The Manual Therapy training program at the EHS Institute is designed to create thoughtful, creative and successful massage practitioners. Our curriculum emphasizes the underlying principles of modality and techniques. Our faculty members have a wide variety of Movement and Manual backgrounds and bring their exceptional depth of experience to their instruction.

Our program is designed in modules so you can take your first course now and continue your training next week, next month or next year. Each module is self contained so you can take the modules as quickly or as slowly as your schedule and budget allow. Program Details: 250 hours

Swedish: 64 hours - $1376

swedish massageStudents will become knowledgeable and proficient in the five basic Swedish strokes, as well as their mechanical, physiological and reflexive effects on muscle, connective tissue and skin. Students will also be taught body mechanics, hand care, proper draping, the effective use of lubricants, the history, terminology and purposes of the massage, as well as the proper positioning, support, pressure, rhythm and duration of a therapeutic massage.


Deep Tissue: 16 hours - $344

Students will receive lectures, demonstrations, handouts, and experience receiving and performing of deep tissue massage strokes. Students will also gain a working knowledge of the underlying physiology and effects of the various deep tissue techniques and their appropriate use, including contraindications and endangerments.

Energy: 8 hours - $172

This program will explore various energy techniques, their application, and their effect on the client. Energy flow, chakras, the mental and emotional effects on the disease process, and the correction of imbalances in the energy field will be addressed. Possible effects of observation, as well as the attitude and focus of the therapist will be discussed.

Myofascial: 16 hours - $344

This training module will incorporate lecture, demonstration, handouts, and practice to teach the student how to release adhesions to the fascia including compressive opposing stretch, linear slide, pin and slide, skin rolling, raking, wringing, bone unwinding and un-patterned joint mobilization. Students will apply these techniques to the back, shoulders and arms, with attention to technique, appropriate application, safety, body mechanics, proper alignment, and client communication for purposes of breathing, joint support and timing. Students will exchange and practice all techniques.

Sports: 16 hours - $344

This training module will include an understanding of evaluating and treating injuries common to sports events. Students are taught application of trigger point therapy, proper use of heat and cold, pre and post event on-site massage, muscle cramps, and soft tissue injury, building on the student’s understanding of the anatomy, physiology, and pathology concerns particular to this type of work covered in those sections of the course. Lecture, handouts and demonstration will be utilized.


Anatomy & Kinesiology in 3D 101: 14 hours - $441

We believe that Anatomy in Three Dimensions* is the best way to understand the musculoskeletal system and integrate anatomical knowledge into your work. In this course, you build the muscles out of clay on a specially designed skeleton, helping you imprint the body’s design deeply into your mind and body. This course is designed to help anyone working with the body gain a foundational understanding of how the muscles and bones affect movement, and obtain amazing practical insight into the body.
